Cultural Heritage

Cultural Heritage

OUR PHILOSOPHY . Native art expresses an unspoken language. It tells a beautiful story of culture, of origin and of place. It holds an authentic power because its essence cannot be duplicated. It only lives and breathes through the artisan.  The artisans. They are the carriers of the culture.  This heritage passed down through generations – is their commercial edge.

In order for native art to survive, to thrive, to exist alongside the broader culture - it must show itself to be viable.

WHAT WE DO .  We take the wealth of knowledge, history and culture in native art and tailor it to the needs and wants of a global market place.  We provide customized, commercial strategies based on data-driven analysis and market expertise.

Historic Preservation

Historic Preservation

OUR PHILOSOPHY . We believe that social equity in preservation leads to the expansion of our cultural memory and collective identity.

WHAT WE DO . Our focus in historic preservation is two fold:

  • Preserving African-American traditions in craft .  We are chronicling the various styles throughout the country, promoting the art forms and developing a research-based, modern furnishings line that brings awareness to the cultural significance of the work.

  • Saving African-American Lands . Research shows that out of 15 million acres of land owned by African American families from 1865 to 1920, only 1% still own their familial land.  We're working to understand how to not only save these sacred spaces but make them self-sustaining. As we learn, we will teach. Follow our journey.

Arts Advocacy

Arts Advocacy

OUR PHILOSOPHY . Arts education matters. It provides the next generation of creative professionals with opportunities to develop their own creative expression and it exposes all children to art so that they become knowledgeable, well-rounded citizens of the world.

WHAT WE DO . We work with nonprofits and arts organizations to develop programs that meet the needs and desires of their community. We can provide an analysis of a current program or help create one from the ground up.
